Whitmore Lake High School
After watching the seventh grade nearly pull off a win, it seemly was a good sign since eighth grade was playing the exact same team. The goal was not to get down early, but that is exactly what happened with St. Thomas going up 6 â 2. After St. Thomasâ second serve out rotation, the Irish were up 16 â 5. At one point in the set, Whitmore Lake was able to string together four points behind an Adriana Canter serve but not much else went the Trojanâs way and St. Thomas cleaned house with a 25 â 14 first set win. In the second set, St. Thomas got the mop out again, including three serve out rotations during the set before winning another set 25 â 14. This time, it was on Joey Wilsonâs serve where the Trojans decided to string together four points for the bright spot in the set. Not wanting to go home without taking at least one set, the Trojans decided it was time to show what they should have been doing all along. In this set, Canter was the one with the serve out rotation and Whitmore Lake was up 6 â 0, well on their way to victory in the 15 point shortened third set, before St. Thomas ever saw the serve. St. Thomas tried to make a comeback, but Whitmore Lake thwarted the attempt and kicked the Irish out of the gym in the final set winning 15 â 12. Peaches Cloutier played very aggressive for the Trojans and had several nice attacks. The eighth grade Trojans fall to 0 â 2 (0 â 0 TCC) for the season.
